A first generation dentist, Dr. Nerestant was born in Cap Haitien, Haiti, the second largest city in Haiti. He was raised in a country setting and grew up generally roaming the rural countryside and spending time on his relatives’ farms. At 14, he moved to New York to rejoin his parents who had migrated to the US years earlier. Although he was an only child, he grew up in the company of many cousins, an experience that strengthened his appreciation for his large family. The first time he felt like a single child was after moving to NY, as the absence of his extended family became more and more apparent. After finishing high school in the top 5% of his class of over 400 students, he left the nest to pursue his dream. Soon after, the first of his two sisters, Esther, arrived. Three years later, his mother gave birth to his second sister, Danielle.
Dr. Nerestant came to Tampa to complete his tour with the US Air Force. Shortly after his Honorable Discharge from the Air Force, Dr. Nerestant came to Lakeland. He has been active over the years with the LVIM (Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine). Once a year he opens his office to offer FREE dental care to residents of Lakeland. He has traveled internationally to countries like Jamaica, Haiti, Cameroon on medical/dental missions to share his gift of dentistry. He has a wide range of interests, including travelling, cooking, and is an active athlete in soccer and tennis. He is learning to speak Spanish and his next goal is to learn public speaking.
